Alisha and Joshua met in 1999, at Spring Creek Baptist Church in Benton, when Alisha's family began attending there. They dated in Jr. High and a little bit in High School, but broke up... and got back together in 2005, when they spotted each other at a Benton/Bryant football game at War Memorial and began to chat and catch up! Their first date was September 4, 2005. At the time, Joshua was attending Arkansas Tech in Russellville and Alisha was at UALR. After two semesters, Joshua transferred to UALR. In 2008, Alisha graduated with her Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications with an emphasis in Broadcast Journalism and a minor in Health Sciences. Joshua graduated in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a minor in Health Sciences. On December 12, 2009, Joshua took Alisha to Hot Springs to go "Christmas shopping" when he took a wrong turn up a mountain and proposed at the top! She said yes and he gave her a beautiful emerald cut diamond ring!
